Little Italy Community Garden Update

This past winter, Skills Society was notified that the land the Little Italy Community Garden sits on had been sold by the City of Edmonton.  The land would be redeveloped for another purpose.  As a result of this development, Skills Society will no longer be stewarding the project and as of this month, the transfer of responsibility has been handed over to the City of Edmonton.

The City of Edmonton plans to relocate the Little Italy Community Garden within the McCauley community.  If you have questions or would like more information about next steps, please contact the McCauley Revitalization Coordinator, Jane Molstad at 780-496-6887 or email jane.molstad@edmonton.ca

We will miss the garden and all the good and wholesome things that it represents. We are hopeful that the City will find a suitable location in the near future and the Little Italy Community Garden will continue to benefit the McCauley area.

On behalf of Skills Society, we thank all the community members who supported this project and contributed to it's development and success (and there were many of you).  For all the newcomers to the project, we thank you for your interest and for extending the offer to lend a hand and be part of our collective.  It has been our pleasure to witness such a meaningful and valuable project flourish and grow and we could not have done it without the help of others, thank you.

We wish all the best for the Little Italy Community Garden and the McCauley area.- Skills Society
