Community Disability Service Professionals Appreciation Week

This week, we proudly join communities across Alberta in celebrating Community Disability Services Professional Appreciation Week May 18-24, 2026.

On March 28th, 2024, Jason Nixon, Minister of Assisted Living and Social Services, officially declared the third week in May as Community Disability Services Professionals Appreciation Week. Now in its third year, this week continues to help shed light on the 15,000 dedicated professionals across Alberta who work every day to enhance the quality of life of people with disabilities, their families, and their communities. We are honored to celebrate and amplify that message.

The work of Community Disability Service professionals is meaningful, complex, and essential. We recognize the incredible compassion and dedication you bring to support people with developmental disabilities to live full and meaningful lives in community, and we are deeply grateful for your commitment - not just this week, but every day of the year.

Please join us in recognizing and celebrating the invaluable work of Community Disability Service professionals within our Skills community and the broader disability sector. Your care and advocacy make a difference in the lives of those we serve and it does not go unnoticed.

Thank you for your commitment and leadership in supporting the good life for the people we serve.
