Skills Society Summer Picnic 2026

On August 5th, the Skills Society community got together for our annual summer picnic. Each year our annual picnic brings members and friends of the Skills community, including people served, their families, staff, and board members, together to connect and celebrate summer.

This year we tried out a new location at the Rundle Family Centre. After all the rain we’ve had this summer, we were lucky to have clear skies for the whole afternoon! The centre has a view of the nearby pond, as well as a large indoor space where folks could take a break or spend some time inside. There was plenty going on throughout the afternoon. The BBQ was serving up hot dogs and hamburgers, and the CommuniTEA Infusion Van was present with tea for folks to enjoy. People caught up with each other, spent time outside, and took part in activities including face painting and lawn games. Skills community member David also DJed throughout the afternoon, providing the soundtrack for the day.

The NOW! Radio Street Team also made an appearance with their truck. They played some music and handed out popsicles, which were a pretty great addition to the sunny afternoon.

A Big thank you to our picnic supporters:

A big thank you to the businesses, orgs who donated prizes for our picnic draw for people we serve and our frontline staff:

And thank you to NOW! Radio Street Team for coming out to the picnic, playing some tunes, and serving up popsicles.

We also want to thank everyone who helped plan, set up, host, and run the picnic, and everyone who came out to spend the afternoon with us. We’re looking forward to doing it all again next year.
